ED men - how to handle ED with prescription medication
ED men often face issues that they cannot discuss with other people. The ironic part is that some ED men actually try and keep the condition hidden from their partners as well, something that cannot last for too long since the list of excuses will deplete soon. Erectile dysfunction or ED is the medical name for impotence and is defined by the incapability to achieve an erection. It is a physiological condition where achieving and sustaining an erection becomes impossible. Estimating the number of ED men that exist is difficult since the condition may occur at varying levels of severity. While some men may not be able to achieve an erection at all there may be others who can achieve an erection but only sustain it for a short period of time. Prescription medications may not be required in all cases and each one should be reviewed by a medical professional.
The reason why each case needs to be reviewed is because while the condition is so common enough that most men experience an incidence of erectile dysfunction at least once by forty five, the frequency of the condition or event may differ. ED men would benefit if they went and consulted a physician when they experience an incidence so that they get themselves evaluated before it is too late. ED men who shy away from consultation may realize that they become prey to other psychological issues that are related to lack of sexual performance and anxiety as well. Prescription medications can help in preventing a full fledged erectile dysfunction.
Erectile dysfunction can occur due various reasons and those ED men who realize that their condition is being caused due to low levels of testosterone react well to testosterone replacement therapy. One of the easiest ways to decipher whether the patient needs testosterone or not for ED treatment is to check for symptoms of hypogonadism.
Another option that ED men have with regards to ED treatment is oral medication like phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors like Viagra. Viagra was the first FDA approved oral medication for ED. Such oral medication helps in relaxing the muscles of the corpora cavernosa thereby allowing blood flow to the penis more easily.
ED men can also use Vardenafil (Levitra). This medication is also one of the prescribed medications that are approved by the FDA now. Like Viagra, Vardenafil suppresses PDE5 which destroys cGMP and leads to relaxed muscles and better blood flow. While the manner in which the oral medicines work is similar some work better than others for some people.
There are other natural treatment options that are possible over and over the prescription medications. Chinese Traditional Medication and Ayurveda have various herbs that have been known to help in cases of ED. ED men should get more information about these options so that they can explore all options of treatment.
